With the Japanese release date for the PlayStation Vita (PSV) less than a month away, Sony has rolled out Firmware 4.00 for the PS3.

This update allows users to copy their digital content such as games, music, photos, and videos between the PSV and PS3, back up PSV games, including save data to their PS3 hard drive, and update the system software for your PSV system using the network features of their PS3.

Other additions included in the firmware offer a few extra PlayStation Plus benefits. Subscribers can now enable and disable the following individual automatic updates:

Game patches

System software

Recommended games and videos

Sync trophy information

Last but not lest, a few privacy features have been added. You are now able to select who can send you Friend Requests (Anyone, Friends of Friends or No One) as well as who you can receive messages from (Anyone, Friends Only or No One).
