PlayStation VITA

85 titles will released in the coming year, these are to include – Batman Arkham Origins, Doki Doki Universe, Tearaway, God of War, Final Fantasy X, Final Fantasy X-2, Flower, Dead Nation and The Walking Dead. Doki Doki Universe looks really weird and interesting, I never liked Final Fantasy X but can’t wait to enjoy its sequel again Final Fantasy X-2 on the Vita, go figure.
There was talk of how great Netflix and Skype looked on the Vita too.

PlayStation 3

This current gen console isn’t dead yet! The display began with footage of The Last of Us to show what the PS3 is still capable of and to prove this point. Nearly 300 more titles are to launch on the console by the end of the year.

Some of the upcoming games shown were:
Puppeteer: a visual style similar to Little Big Planet, I would prefer to see this on the Vita but am looking forward to playing it on the PS3 regardless.
Rain looked beautiful, I think this is the one that interested me the most.
Beyond Two Souls: This was a surprise. From what I have already seen of the game I was not expecting the military style training camp footage. It looks like Beyond Two Souls may be going in a completely different direction than I originally thought but I still want to see how it i going to play out.
Batman Arkham Origins: this is looking less and less like a prequel seeing as his move set is even more developed than Batman Arkham City. Perhaps the haven’t decided how they want to move the story forward yet, either way I’m happy for more Batman gameplay.
An exclusive bundle for PlayStation users was announced for Grand Theft Auto V and new footage of Grant Turismo 6 was shown. For those interested in a serious driving simulator, it doesn’t getting any better.

PlayStation 4

What everyone was waiting for, the console itself is revealed.
There is a lot of talk about TV and film content available exclusive to the PS4. Music unlimited and video unlimited will be available day one allowing you to buy or rent over 150,000 TV shows and films as well as stream songs across smart phones, tablets and PlayStation devices. The PlayStation 3 is the number one device in the world for streaming Netflix, we’re not here for TV news though we’re here for games so it’s best they got this out of the way early.

Footage was shown of the previously announced titles: Knack, Killzone Shadow Fall and Drive Club, all of which will be available at launch. Infamous Second Son will be out in the first quarter of 2014.
A new and exclusive IP, The First Order 1886 is revealed. This looked like some kind of Victorian, steam punk England with zombie monsters, interesting anyway!
A preview was shown of a 12 minute real time technical demo for the PlayStation 4, The Dark Sorcerer, by Quantic Dream. The full demo will be available to see tomorrow.

Great support for Indie games was shown next, several PS4 exclusive titles were displayed: Transistor, Don’t Starve, Mercenary Kings, Octodad Deadliest Catch(this looked hilarious), Secret Ponchos, Outlast, Galaxy and a full remake of Oddworld called Oddworld New and Tasty.

Exclusive items for Diablo 3 on the PlayStation 3 and 4 were mentioned next. Players can get Drake’s amulet from Uncharted or shoulder braces from Journey. The Elder Scrolls online will also have an exclusive beta version for the PlayStation 4.

Square Enix came on then and begin with a trailer for Final Fantasy Versus XIII, which then became Final Fantasy XV. The trailer is full of dramatic fight scenes and giant monsters.
What could top a numbered Final Fantasy announcement? A numbered Kingdom Hearts announcement! Kingdom Hearts 3 will be coming to the PlayStation 4 and some brief footage was shown, looking good so far.
Final Fantasy XIV will be exclusive to the PlayStation 3 and 4, Final Fantasy XV and Kingdom Hearts 3 won’t be.

Demo of Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag and Watch Dogs were then played on stage. The game footage ended after showing Lebron James speak to a game version of himself in NBA2K14, as well as footage from Destiny and a clip from Mad Max.

The show ended with some facts about the console.
Restrictions won’t be imposed on disc based games: greeted by chanted from the audience of “Sony, Sony!”.
The PlayStation 4 doesn’t need to be online to play, you don’t have to check in online periodically and it won’t stop working if you haven’t authenticated it online within 24 hours: more cheers from the crowd and probably some crying from Microsoft…
PS Plus membership will carry over to the PS4, it doesn’t look like online multiplayer will be free.
There are more than 140 games in development, 100 of these will be available in the first year, 40 of which will be exclusives. The console will be region free and out in the US and Europe this holiday season for $399/€399/£349.
