Mobile RPGs are a common sight, but when a massively popular name like Level-5 steps behind the development, people tend to listen, including the big console developers. This means the Professor Layton and Dragon Quest IX creator’s latest RPG, Wonder Flick, is coming not only to iOS and Android but also to PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PS Vita, Xbox One and Wii U.

Wonder Flick takes inspiration from Dragon Quest and uses the best attributes from the series that made it so popular in Japan: a nomadic warrior, a cute princess, a proud king, adventurous music and deviously adorable monsters. It’s an aesthetic that is now nearing 30 years old, and it still works perfectly.

The battles definitely look cool, and its clear the game gets its name from the “flicking” used in the gameplay. Unfortunately, as with all JRPGs, a Western release for Wonder Flick hasn’t been confirmed yet and is not guaranteed, so it’s up in the air whether or not we’ll be seeing it here in the US. In Japan though, Wonder Flick is set to arrive on mobile in November, with the console releases following sometime in 2014.
