Casino games, heists, an indoor/outdoor dirt track and custom car races are just some of the new features hinted at by Grand Theft Auto 5’s recent Beach Bum DLC update, and it looks like there are a number of exciting activities that are going to be added to the already burgeoning virtual world. Late last year there were several rumours that circulated about the Vinewood Casino on Mirror Park Boulevard, and although the building has been locked up and looks to be under construction there is an “Opening Soon” sign above the doors. The ability to gamble would slot pretty seamlessly into a GTA V storyline and in the past players have been able to wager “money” in Vice City and San Andreas. There are some awesome standalone PS casino games already on the market, but if Rockstar could look at integrating features of the same sort of calibre as the games found at www.riverbellecasino.com they would take PS casino entertainment to a whole new level. The addition of real money gambling in a game would also add an entirely new element to console entertainment, and considering the furore over real-world transactions for in-game money it could be interesting to see whether there would be a cross over between the two. We’ve already seen casino games being integrated into other PS games and in Borderlands 2 players had to partake in slots games to win weaponry, so the switch to real money gaming in-game wouldn’t be too much of a jump. Players were given a few hints at the potential for casino action during the Beach Bum DLC update when characters mentioned a new casino that’s opened and a set of races where custom cars could be gambled on. There’s also plenty of player speculation that casino heists may become a major feature of GTA V, and by opening the Vinewood Casino the groundwork for future expansion could well be underway. Heists are atypical of GTA and the main game features some brilliant missions with heists at the centre of their storyline, so it’s not surprising that Rockstar is looking for ways to expand on the concept. So far all the GTA V updates have added extra value to the game and we’ll keep you posted as soon as we hear more about Rockstars new storylines and added features.
