This post is mainly aimed at Persona fans since to fully appreciate the upcoming game you will want to have played Persona 3, Persona 4 Golden and Persona 4 Arena. Persona 4 Arena was notoriously known as one of the few region locked games for the PlayStation 3 leaving European fans waiting almost a year to play it. This game now has a sequel due out in Japan on the 28th August and North America on the 30th September. There is no European release date yet but Atlus have announced that it is not region locked so European fans have the option of playing the American version.
Persona 4 Arena Ultimax is a 2D fighting game with a fully developed plot containing characters from Persona 3 and Persona 4 Golden along with some new characters. I say Persona 4 Golden rather than Persona 4 since Marie, a character new to the Golden edition will be part of this game too. It is a direct sequel to Persona 4 Arena and will continue the story where it left off. There will be new fighting mechanics that let you not only play as each character but also almost everyone’s Shadow which will affect their attributes and abilities. You can check out the trailer below or head over to Atlus’ YouTube page for more gameplay videos.
Pre-ordering now gets you some nice bonuses: a Teddie bop bag and half of the tarot cards seen in the Persona games. The other half can currently only be gotten with Persona Q, a game that is sadly exclusive to the Nintendo 3DS.
