We all know that the PlayStation 4 is the best of the console on the market (we’re allowed say that here at PlayStationer) and the sales figures don’t lie. Speaking about Sony’s latest market share figures, Sony Europe President Jim Ryan had this to say:

We have a very significant market leadership,” he said. “Well, we have market leadership in every country in Europe, and have very significant market leadership in continental Europe. Extremely significant. I don’t think market share’s any less than 70 per cent, and frequently greater than 90 per cent in continental Europe.

This is a massive win for Sony as with the previous console generation it took them a long time to gain a market share as large as Microsoft. Typically, Sony dominates more in Europe while Microsoft secures North America, but this generation has seen a change. Globally, Sony has sold over 22 million PlayStation 4 consoles. Microsoft have not given quite concrete figures but roughly 10 million have been sold in to retailers, not to gamers.
