Last week at E3, Sony seemed to brush over their stab at the VR market and only spent about 15 minutes showcasing the latest from the VR headset Morpheus. While other headsets like the Oculus Rift, and Vive have been showboating as much as possible, Sony have been very understated in their approach to marketing.<\/p>\n

In a recent interview with Forbes magazine, Sony Computer Entertainment America CEO Shawn Layden suggested that for Sony the Morpheus isn’t just a peripheral for the PS4 but a new platform for gaming.<\/p>\n

VR for us, it\u2019s not a peripheral, it\u2019s not a, \u2018here\u2019s the latest way to interact with the game\u2019 thing. It\u2019s a platform. It has the ability to impact gaming the same way that smart phones changed cell phones\u2026 before it was \u2018I can talk to a person, I can text a person, what more do I need?\u2019 But then the smart phone came out and it\u2019s like, wow, I can do all that in my hand? I think Morpheus is going to have a similar impact on gaming or entertainment consumption.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
Sony showed about 15 games at E3 this year and from all accounts people liked what they saw. Sure there were a few cases of motion sickness but they’ll work the kinks out for that.<\/p>\n
I’m glad the Morphues is still underway. Having sample other VR headsets I can confirm that it’s an incredible experience and the sooner we can all enjoy, the better.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
