Yes that’s right Capcom announced yesterday evening that the next instalment in the highly successful Resident Evil series would be seeing a release this year. November 20th to be precise.

It's that time again

After a couple of days oh whirling rumours and teases, Capcom have finally released a trailer. The game is being marketed as a “dramatic horror” and like the previous instalment will contain single player and co-op modes.

Capcom then continued with details about the games plot. “It has been ten years since the Raccoon City incident and the President of the United States has decided to reveal the truth behind what took place in the belief that it will curb the current resurgence in bioterrorist activity. Due to be by the President’s side is his personal friend and Raccoon City survivor, Leon S. Kennedy, but when the venue suffers a bioterrorist attack, Leon is forced to face a President transformed beyond recognition and make his hardest ever decision. At the same time, Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance member Chris Redfield arrives in China, itself under threat of a bioterrorist attack. With no country safe from these attacks and the ensuing outbreaks, the entire world’s population is united by a common fear that there is no hope left.”

Capcom continued: “Blending action and survival horror, this latest instalment in the multi-million selling franchise is the most ambitious, immersive and feature rich title of the series to date and promises to be the dramatic horror experience of the year.”

The game features two previous fans favourites, Leon.S.Kennedy and Chris Redfield. These appear to have two different story campaigns with Chris in China and Lean in the US but no doubt they will at some point end up on the same continent. It also appears to show a new third mercenary who appears along side what can only be Ashley from 4. He also appears to be immune due to the “world needing his blood.”

The game will be developed by Hiroyuki Kobayashi who developed Resident Evil 4 and he went on to say. “From the outset the team’s intention was to create an experience that delivers a gripping storyline, tense single-player and co-op action all set against a constant theme of horror. We are calling this fusion dramatic horror and are confident it will resonate with both existing fans of the series as well as newcomers.
