Sony announced today at Gamescom that the PlayStation 4 will release on November 15th in North America and November 29th in Europe. The PlayStation 4 will retail at €399 euro, $399 dollars and £349 pounds in the UK. The new console will be available just in time for the holidays.

Anticipation towards the PS4 has been building since its announcement and through E3 in June. Sony Computer Entertainment President and Group CEO Andrew House revealed today that they’ve received over 1 million pre-orders worldwide. House also announced that gamers who purchase the PlayStation 3 version of certain games will be able to purchase the PlayStation 4 of the game at “a significantly discounted price.” Confirmed games are Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag, Battlefield 4 and Call of Duty: Ghosts.

Before announcing the release date, Andrew house made another famous Sony dig at Microsoft reminding fans that while “others have shifted their message and changed their story,” Sony has remained consistent.

Microsoft have been stumbling lately and backtracking with their Xbox One in an attempt to compete with the Playstation 4. The PS4 is an incredible machine and makes for a perfect gift this holiday season!
