There are big changes coming in the next update for the PlayStation 4 and of course we have all the changes right here just for you:

1) Custom themes:

Finally the blue background on the PS4 home screen can now be changed. Sony have included 7 new colours for you to choose from or you can use the custom themes that were popular on the PS3. We presume you will be able to buy new custom themes from the PS store when they are released.

2) New voice commands:

If you use the PlayStation camera for voice commands, Sony have created a host of new voice commands which will enhance the user experience especially when broadcasting games via Twitch or Ustream.

3) Recommend friends:

If you love to play online, Sony are including a nice feature where they recommend friends for you to add. This might be a great feature if you are looking for like-minded gamers to assist you online.

4) USB hard drive:

A much requested feature of the PS4, players will now be able to connect an external USB hard drive to play certain types of files such as MP3, MP4, M4A and 3GP.

5) Improvement to live broadcasting:

This popular feature is getting a much needed update thanks to 2.0. Users of the Live from PlayStation app will now be able to select a featured channel which includeds official broadcasts from PlayStation, players on your friends list and any game channel you have followed. You will also be able to filter by game instead of scrolling down the entire list.

6) Content Area and Library:

PS4’s Content Area, which shows the latest games and apps a PS4 owner has used, has been redesigned to help make it easier to quickly find and access content. It now shows 15 of a player’s most used apps or games, and additional items will be added to a player’s Library. The Library on PS4 has improved filter and sort functions to help organize contented by type (game / app / TV & video), name (a – z or z – a), recently used, or install date.

7) Add To Library:

The monthly free PlayStation Plus games will have an ‘Add to Library’ button in the PlayStation Store. This button will add a game to a PS4 owner’s library without downloading it – saving space on their hard drive.

8) Save to USB hard drive:

Finally, Game saves, screenshots, and captured video can now transferred to and stored on external USB-connected devices for safe-keeping and later use.

We will update this page once we get confirmation of the arrival date of update 2.0.
